THE ARTIST

Carolyne Geerman is a self-taught visual artist and practice nurse from San Nicolas, Aruba. Her journey into art began in 2019 when she created her first acrylic painting—a lotus flower—as a symbol of warmth and healing in her nursing space. Though she has no formal art training, Carolyne’s creativity emerged through stillness, struggle, and a profound desire to reconnect with her inner voice.

Her work reflects a powerful personal transformation—a journey of healing from perfectionism, shame, and people-pleasing. Each piece is a raw and honest exploration of emotional truth, empowerment, and becoming. Carolyne’s paintings are known for their bold symbolism and expressive energy, inviting viewers to connect deeply with the stories she tells through natural elements like fire, light, and eyes as mirrors to the soul.

As both a nurse and an artist, Carolyne sits with people in their most vulnerable moments, carrying these stories into her studio. Her art gives voice to the unspoken, honoring the strength she witnesses in others and the inner life she navigates herself.

In 2024, Carolyne fully embraced her identity as an artist, launching her debut collection Metamorphosis: The Art of Becoming. This series of acrylic-on-canvas works traces the journey from silence to self-expression.

Rooted in themes of feminine empowerment, cultural reflection, and deep introspection, Carolyne’s evolving body of work invites viewers not just to see—but to feel.

Outside the studio, fitness, nature, and travel provide vital inspiration and balance. Encounters with the wild—from African safaris to swimming in the Indian Ocean—fuel her creative process, offering energy, symbolism, and reverence for the untamed. These experiences ground her as she navigates the interconnected paths of healthcare and art—two vocations united by a shared drive to heal, connect, and empower.
